Letters to Juliet

Bustier: vintage, Skirt: Urban Outfitters, Sweater: American Apparel, Flats: Jeffrey Campbell, Makeup: c/o Jordana Cosmetics (links for eyeshadow, blush, and lipgloss below)

"A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." Shakespeare spoke these words through the beloved character of Juliet in perhaps his most popular of works, Romeo & Juliet, where romance and tragedy prevail. But let's focus on the romance, shall we?

This outfit is certainly inspired by romance, in a take on a modern day Juliet dressed in daytime attire! We start with the classic lace bustier. I cannot even begin to express how much I love that underwear is outerwear again, and classically beautiful, sensual pieces such as the lace bustier can be incorporated into our everyday outfits. This bustier is vintage, and I had it tailored slightly to better fit me in all the key areas. It's delicate, romantic, and provocative.

Since I wanted to make it a daytime outfit, I balanced it out with a simple cotton skirt with a light pattern from Urban Outfitters. And layered it further with an oversize unisex sweater from American Apparel. I wore these adorable lace up flats by Jeffrey Campbell to sweeten the outfit further. They are not only cute, but incredibly comfortable, and can often be worn as a subtle statement shoe to daytime outfits.

My makeup is courtesy of the wonderful Jordana Cosmetics, and provides the perfect soft glow that I always strive to achieve in all my looks! I'm wearing their lovely cream eyeshadow that you can find here in "Brilliant Bronze." I like to apply it using my fingertips so I can easily shape it. And since it is a cream eyeshadow, remember that a little goes a long way! I loved that it added the perfect highlight and shadow to my lids, and best of all, it lasts!

I'm also wearing their cream blush stick found here in "Coral Touch." I admit, I tend to be wary of cream blush due to negative experiences I've had with them in the past. So I was VERY relieved that their blush worked so well! It doesn't feel heavy, it's actually very light, and I apply it lightly along my cheek bones and smooth it in with my fingers. I add a little more as needed until I get just the right tint. I love that the color is soft and natural, but adds the perfect highlight to your cheeks!

I'm also wearing their lip gloss, which I am seriously ADDICTED to! You can find it here and my personal favorite is "Watermelon Punch," which I'm wearing here. The gloss adds the perfect amount of color and shine without being heavy or sticky! Plus it smells and tastes good, so I'm sure your honey won't complain ;)

Best of all, if you're like me and need a great eye makeup remover that is gentle and non-irritating then Jordana's got you covered. I'm a HUGE advocate of not wearing your makeup to bed - you gotta let your skin breathe so it can remain healthy and continue to give you a beautiful complexion! So be sure you use a makeup remover like this one every night before bed :)

Wow, we had A LOT to cover today, and to top it all off, it's our 2 Month Anniversary at Blush&Bangs!! Plus, we're also officially a dot-com, yayy!!! We're kicking off the month, and the week on a positive note, let's keep it up darlings :)

Cheers,
