Don't Stay Low

Don't stay low, don't stay low
No, just pick yourself up.
Oh, leave your mistake in the doorway,
Give us a sign that you've seen what you've done,
But look for the sun and lift up your head.
~ The Good Mad "Don't Stay Low"

Top: Korner Kloset boutique, Shorts: American Apparel, Shoes: Michael Kors, Lipstick: Milani Cosmetics "Nude Creme" get it here, Lipliner: Milani Cosmetics "Nude" get it here!

Happy Monday BBs! Let's get right to it! I love how simple and yet chic this outfit is, great for summer nights ;) I picked up this sheer top from a local boutique called Korner Kloset (you can find them on facebook). I love the T-strap back which is comprised of a faux leather fabric that hugs the skin while the rest of the top flows nicely. These white, denim shorts are by American Apparel and can obviously be worn with a number of different types of outfits, but in this case they're more dressed up. I paired the outfit with my suede Michael Kors with the gunmetal heels :)

To top the look, I wore my Milani Color Statement lipstick and lipliner (links to find them are above). I wanted to keep this outfit light and fresh, so the nude color of the lipstick was perfect. The lipstick applies smoothly and lasts so well, especially when paired with the lipliner, I love them!

See you Wednesday kittens ;)

Cute Bikini Ideas!

Summer is approaching, and I don't know about you guys, but I am trying to get into bikini shape for the upcoming season! Sometimes finding the right swimsuit can become just as precarious as finding the perfect pair of jeans. So, I went on Diane's Beachwear and found some cute suits to help give you an idea of what you may be looking for this swimsuit season :)

(All photos courtesy of www.dianesbeachwear.com)
I love the detailing in the bandeau top of this Tori Praver suit!

The color, print, and ruffles are my favorite details in this Tori Praver suit.

The hiphugger bottom and ruched bandeau in this red hot L Space bikini are sexy and cute!

I'm loving this lace top from Bettinis!

Love, love, love everything about this L Space bikini!

Such a pretty suit and color from Boys + Arrows :)

Hope this gave you guys some swimspiration (see what I did there?!)!! Lol ;)

For Dari

Great friends are hard to come by, so when you find the real deal, treasure them. One of my closest friends, Darianne, has been with me through thick and thin since we met in graduate school nearly two years ago. To show a token of my appreciation, I wanted to do something different for today's post: I went to Tobi and pulled a few pieces that I not only think are completely adorable, but that I specifically think would look amazing on my friend Darianne. The pieces are great, so I know you guys will love them as much as I do!

(All photos courtesy of www.tobi.com)
Here is the "Chaser LA Magic Off Shoulder Top," great for every day or going to a concert!

This adorable number is the "Mirage Chambray Dress." I love the colorful, Aztec patterned bodice and denim looking skirt. This is the perfect little dress for a fun date night ;)

This eyelet, collared crop top is the "Darling Daisy Crop Top," and is perfect for the spring and summer season. You can dress this top up or down for any number of fun occasions!

This knockout dress is the "Diana Strapless Bodycon Dress," and it is both sexy and gorgeous. Wear this to an event and all eyes will be on you. The fit and detailing of this dress allows for minimal accessories to be added to the outfit because the dress is the focus, and of course your pretty face ;)

This lavender top is the "Lacey Love Top." I love the soft color, and how complementary it is on a number of skin tones! This is another piece that can be either dressed up or down for any occasion!

The "Genevieve Embellished Romper" is the perfect party outfit. It's one piece - a romper - so you have shorts making it easy to move around, and you can wear it to different types of outings. The beaded detailing fancies the piece up for a "nicer" party or night out, or if it's a casual outing, toss a medium or light wash denim jacket over it and you're good to go!

See you Friday BBs!

Tiffany & Co. Blue Book Ball

Last weekend Tiffany & Co. hosted their Blue Book Ball at the Rockefeller Center in New York City, and the fashion was plentiful! There were a few dresses that caught my eye, and I felt I needed to do a post on the event. There also were a few that were off the mark, and some that were somewhere in between good and bad, lol. Let's start with my favorite...

(All photos courtesy of www.stylebistro.com)
I'm pretty sure if you look up "perfection" in the dictionary, enclosed you will find a photo of Kate Hudson in this Reem Acra gown. She is the main reason that I needed to cover this event, because this dress with her in it needs to be seen by all! She is also wearing diamonds by Tiffany's, and her hair & makeup styling are impeccable, as well.

You'll notice that blue is the theme of the evening, and Jessica Biel followed suit in a dark blue, floral and sheer Elie Saab. Her light makeup and Old Hollywood glam hair complete the look. So beautiful!

Carey Mulligan is known for making bold fashion choices, and she certainly did in this Victoria Beckham suit! I tend to not be a big fan of capes, but I love this blazer-cape design, it's very chic. The suit is tailored to perfection, and the deep V of the blazer adds a slice of sexy femininity to the outfit.

Here's Michelle Williams in a navy Kate Emilio dress. I keep vacillating between how I feel about this number. From a distance I like it, but the more I look at it the less positively I feel about it. I think, for me, I just do not understand a structure that adds volume to a woman's hips. Why would anyone ever want that?! Our hips are problematic as they are, why add more volume and attention to them?? It's just a nonsensical design, in my humble opinion.

I really like Alice Eve in this magenta gown, she looks lovely. The top of the dress is very well-fitted and flattering on her, but I hate the shoes with this dress. It was a risk that didn't work, and some strappy heels would do wonders for this look.

Model, Cato Van Ee, is a vision in this silky, powder blue gown. I love the design of the back, and how the dress falls perfectly against her figure.

Coachella Weekend 1

I've been watching photos from Coachella pour in all week, and I've been jealous because I didn't get tickets since I'm busy both weekends. But, of course, I've been paying attention to all the festival fashions! Here are a few celebrities whose style caught my eye from this first weekend :)

There were lots of short shorts to be seen around the festival, because really, what's a hippie weekend without cutoffs and flowers adorning your hair!? Lot's of white, gauzy fabrics, and eyelet as well. I'm obsessed with floral hair pieces, so I just love the flower hair crowns on trend now. Here's Ashley Benson, Vanessa Hudgens, and Kate Bosworth all showing off their gorgeous gams in some shorts!

(All photos courtesy of www.stylebistro.com)

Denim was also a popular fabric at Coachella, especially when worn over floral or patterned skirts! I love the variations with denim as well: Alessandra Ambrosio tied a denim chambray top at the waist with her paisley skirt, Jamie Chung wears a light wash denim jacket over her flowy floral dress, and Diane Kruger is wearing boyfriend Joshua Jackson's denim coat over her outfit!

Can't wait to see who wears what during weekend 2 of Coachella! See you on the other side lovebugs!

Allure Gets Nekkid for May!

Amanda Seyfried is the cover girl for Allure magazine's May issue! I just fell in love with the spreads I previewed, and had to feature them! The issue is photographed by the incomparable Patrick Demarchelier and the images are stunning. We are starting with a few images from Amanda's shoot and then we get to the lovely actresses who bared all for the issue ;) (Warning, it may be NSFW for some of you!) For more of the issue, be sure to pick up your own copy of Allure when it hits stands, and check out their site www.allure.com
 (All photos courtesy of www.allure.com)
Amanda is wearing a silk Nina Ricci dress and her makeup was done by Fulvia Farolfi.

This Zac Posen dress hugs Amanda in all the right places ;) One of my favorite qualities of Amanda is how unfiltered and natural she is in interviews, as she says in the magazine: "I have no edit button." I love that!

Here she wears this lovely eyelet dress by Dolce & Gabbana and her tresses were styled by Teddy Charles.

Now we move on to the more risqué spread in the issue!
Glee's Naya Rivera wasn't shy about stripping down for the shoot. As far as body image goes, she told Allure: "You can't be so hard on yourself that you're not enjoying every day." I whole heartedly agree with that statement!

For any Once Upon A Time fans, Jennifer Morrison took this gorgeous shot. When Allure asked how she prepared for the shoot, she said: "Nothing crazy or extreme, but maybe one glass of wine instead of two, fish instead of steak. And I got waxed and shaved my legs."

If you're a Nashville fan, like me, then you'll recognize the lovely Clare Bowen. When Allure asked what this shoot meant to her, Clare responded: " I said they could photograph my scars. This isn't a rite-of-passage thing or a risqué thing. It's about body image and making other people feel good."

Christa Miller from Cougar Town stuns in this black and white shot. The lighting and natural nature of the photo is what makes it truly beautiful, to me at least :)

See you Friday!

Best Dressed Celebs This Week

Welcome back, I hope everyone had a great weekend! I've been keeping an eye on all the red carpet events going on, and unfortunately found myself underwhelmed this past week. The MTV Movie Awards were particularly rough, it seems most attendees nixed their stylists - what a mess! There were a few noteworthy stars, so I've included them. Let's get the fashion started!

(All photos courtesy of www.stylebistro.com)
Here is Olivia Wilde wearing a lovely yellow and white Monique L'Huillier frock. She was attending the Marie Claire party honoring her April cover for the magazine. I love how perfect this dress is for the spring, and although it is rather simple, the cut is adorable and incredibly flattering to her figure!

Alessandra Ambrosio wore this sexy, white, long-sleeve bodycon dress to her 32nd birthday party last week. Yes, she's a supermodel so we expect her to look amazing in absolutely anything, but I really adore this dress. I've been wanting to get a white, long-sleeve minidress, and Alessandra is like the version you put up on your vision board as a goal, lol!

I must say, I thought Taylor Swift looked beautiful at the ACM Awards last week. I love this champagne, beaded Dolce & Gabbana gown. Yes, she wears dresses like this often, but damn if it doesn't look good on her! She has a very long, slim frame, and the cut of this gown gives her some curves and hugs her silhouette in just the right way :)

Out of the entire fashion faux-pas that was the MTV Movie Awards, I thought Brittany Snow was the best dressed there. She looks lovely, classy, and fun in this navy, silk minidress. I love the silver and black beaded accent shoulders, which add that touch of unique excitement we expect to see on a MTV red carpet. The cut is just right for her, and her sleek bob tops the look perfectly!

Now I know this outfit isn't everyone's favorite, but here's why I like it: I feel like Kerry Washington did the kooky-unique-weird MTV red carpet thing right in this Michael Kors fishtail dress. Is it the best thing I've ever seen her wear? Certainly not, but I thought it was appropriate for the event, and far better than most others I saw.

Here we have Selena Gomez in a gold, beaded fringe Julien MacDonald dress. The dress is cute and fun, and appropriate for the MTV red carpet, although her hair leaves much to be desired.

Lastly, we close with Zoe Saldana in Givenchy. Her figure is amazing, she's built like a model, so everything off the runway looks great on her (we're all jealous, it's okay, lol). This is the only full length gown that I thought worked on the MTV Movie Awards red carpet. I like that this dress is both fun and elegant without trying to hard. The slit and the mesh cutout make it a younger more casual red carpet look, and Zoe added a pop of color with her red lips to complete the look. Job well done!

That's all for today, see you Wednesday lovelies ;)

6 Month Anniversary Week Pt.2

Here's another glance back at a few more favorite looks from these past months! Side note - yes, I'm still annoyingly and unbelievably super sick, how crazy is that!? Anyways, links to the original post are below each photo! On with the show....

Looking back at these makes me so nostalgic. I feel like so much has happened, both personally and professionally, in such a short span of time since starting this blog. I am so very proud of the team I work with, and the product produced here. I also have to give a special thanks to my wonderful photographer Caroline. She is brilliant, and it's so rare to find a photographer who has a similar vision as you do, knows how to shoot women, and is so beautifully talented. And again, thank you to my readers, you guys make me smile every day :)
