Beach Style Ideas!

Happy Friday darlings! I don't know about you guys, but it has been so hot in LA this week, I feel like I'm roasting every time I'm outside. So I have no doubt that many of us will be hitting the beach over the weekend to cool off in the water! When you're not running around in your bikini, here are some ideas and examples to keep you looking stylish, carefree, but always chic on the sand. Find which beach look suits your personal style best!

(All photos courtesy of www.pinterest.com)
Simple and classic: cutoffs and Converse. These cutoffs are patriotic with the flag which is a cute detail, and I love red, high-top Converse. Classic Americana :)

I normally wouldn't ever think of wearing pants to the beach, but this floral pair is so cute that I probably would! Plus, I love the loose crop top!

Casual open back tee with a printed maxi skirt - so easy, comfortable, and totally chic!

Beach-wear always makes me think of crochet pieces. Love this cropped, crochet vest, especially paired with white cutoffs. The epitome of summer :)

I really like the layering in this look, I normally wouldn't put these pieces together, but they totally work! I especially love the utility jacket tossed over the whole look!

I think tossing a pullover sweater on is very simple, but adorable when fitted right!

Easy and ethereal: maxi skirt and open sweater ;)

Have a beautiful weekend everyone, and try to stay cool!

I Want It!

Hi BBs! How's everyone's week so far? I'm exhausted, it's been non-stop work for me, and I'm just trying to keep my head above water. If you're exhausted too, then today's post is a great little reprise from all your work. I took a break and went on www.nastygal.com, and picked out some pieces that I love and need in my closet asap, if not sooner ;) Which pieces are your favorites??

(All photos courtesy of www.nastygal.com)
Flowers. Crop top. Long sleeves. There's nothing I don't love about this top! It's adorable and flirtatious simultaneously, the perfect combo ;)

I've been really into beanies lately, especially the ones with playful puns on them. I love this play on Hermés with "Hot mess," it's so fun, fresh, and playful!

I love little white dresses, and summer is the season for white dresses. I love the asymmetrical lines, high neckline, and flattering fit of the dress. This is the perfect day-to-night summer dress!!

This sexy, black romper can be worn to both a more dressed up event, or a fun, casual party. It's easy, chic, and versatile. What more could you want!?

I'm always on the lookout for great cutoffs for the summer! I love this pair of distressed denim ones :)

I've been looking to get either the perfect bomber or letterman jacket, and this rose bomber jacket is amazing! I love the simplicity of the jacket, it allows the minimal detailing of the rose to be the perfect touch and focal point of the piece.

I adore this pyramid top! The triangular, peek-a-boo back gives just the right amount of sass, plus you all know how much I love my crop tops ;) This is a great day-to-night piece that can be dressed up or down however you prefer for the occasion!

That's all for today kittens!

Pinteresting: 5 Must-Have Lip Looks!

Hi lovelies!! Here are 5 lip looks that I think are the staples for your makeup bag. As long as you have these 5 shades, you are set for any occasion! Side note: thanks for all the support you guys gave me for my academic conference this weekend, it went great! I just got back from the conference and am exhausted and literally nodding off over my laptop right now, so I really must be getting to bed! Enjoy the post, and let me know what you think!!

(All photos courtesy of www.pinterest.com)
The coral lip! Perfect for summer to add a touch of brightness to all your looks. This is a great daytime shade!

Deep burgandy. This deep berry shade is absolutely stunning. It can be worn day or night for a touch of drama, and a lot of sex appeal ;)

The pale lip. This look is a statement in it's understatement. Again, this shade can be day or night, but works best when paired with a dramatic eye. If you want the focus to be your eye makeup, especially, then this is a great shade for you!

The classic and timeless red lip.... Need I say more??

The nude lip. This look is perfect to gain that effortless beauty. Everything is understated and natural, so you look as though you are just always this flawless, lol ;) This is my go-to "anytime" look, because it is the most malleable, I think.

Summer Bottoms!

Here is my quick and easy guide to cute bottoms to add great range and combinations to your closet this summer! I am including skirts, short, pants, and jeans so you get a little bit of everything you need ;) All of the looks featured in today's post are from www.tobi.com, because I love how cute and affordable their merchandise is. Here are my style ideas to boost your fun all day long and into those  summer nights!

Something floral. I love this beautiful, floral, skater skirt! The print is lovely, and the skater style is flattering on most body types :)

Something denim. The perfect pair of denim shorts are clutch for summer. I love this destroyed, high-waisted pair with slanted sides!

Something colorful. Colored denim is big this season, and I love the pop of color this pair provides! Plus, it fades to light towards the ankles, adding both uniqueness and an unexpected touch of subtlety to these eye-catching bottoms.

Something sexy. This cutout maxi skirt is great for day to night wear. Toss it on with a cute tee and sandals for the day, and then swap in a fitted top and heels for the evening!

Something scalloped...and sparkly. I love the scalloped bottom trend we are seeing on shorts and miniskirts this season, it's such a simple cut that somehow adds such a fun and youthful edge to a piece! I love the nude coloring of this pair, accented with the sequins, which can be worn with both light and dark colored tops.

Something crochet. Because crochet and eyelet styles are made for summertime! I love the crochet print on this skirt, and how feminine it is when the lining ends and the crochet peeks over a couple inches!

There you have it BBs, my summer bottoms guide ;) See you Friday!

Critic's Choice Awards

The Critic's Choice Awards took place this week, and here are six looks that had me doing a double take!

(All photos courtesy of www.stylebistro.com)
TV Host Cat Deeley glows in the stunning gold Monique L'huillier gown! I love the cut and silhouette, as well as the sequence and beadwork.

Entertainment news host, Maria Menounos, looks like the Greek goddess she is in this teal Marchesa gown. The dress fits like a glove, it's impeccable, and her team made sure it was perfectly lined!

Actress and fashion icon, Diane Kruger, is every bit the fashionista in this black, lace, corseted Nina Ricci dress. It is retro and sexy as hell ;)

Emmy Rossum is red carpet ready in this red, beaded Naeem Khan gown. I love the square neckline, and the fit of the dress really hugs and flatters a woman's curves!

Parks & Rec star, Aubrey Plaza, looks lovely in this white Roland Mouret dress. The dress shows off her killer physique in all the right ways ;)

Parenthood star, and one of the night's big winners - Monica Potter - looks so beautiful in this fuschia Nicole Miller gown. Her hair and makeup was one of my favorites of the night!

Have a great weekend kittens!

Back to Black

We only said goodbye with words,
I died a hundred times.
You go back to her,
And I go back to black.
~ Amy Winehouse "Back to Black"
(Top: Nameless, Skirt: H&M, Tights: H&M, Shoes: lulus.com)

I'm a firm believer in the "less is more" concept - especially when it comes to styling. More often than not, keeping a look simple is the biggest favor you can give yourself in terms of fashion and styling. Because then, YOU are always the focus, and your outfit complements you, rather than the other way around!

For this look I decided to go back to basics, in a sense - no patterns, no beaded textures. I went with more classic pieces and cuts that will ALWAYS work and be on trend, so they are pieces you can keep in your closet seemingly forever :)

For my top I'm wearing a structured, bandage, strapless top with a sweetheart neckline. Sweetheart necklines are my favorite, and they are the ultimate in terms of classic, feminine cuts :) I'm wearing a high-waisted skater skirt with it since it focuses attention towards the waist for a more flattering fit.

Toss on a pair of sheer tights and black pumps, and you have an evening outfit that can be worn for a plethora of events! This would also be a great look to wear a statement lip color with, such as a bold burgandy or deep berry ;) And you can easily wear your hair down, or up in a bun or even a ponytail with this look for added versatility!

Cheers

(Top: Brandy Melville, Shorts: BDG for Urban Outfitters, Shoes: Converse)

Hello lovelies! This outfit features what I like to call a "statement top," where the shirt demands all the attention of the outfit. The look is very simple, minimal, and casual, but that is to emphasize the focus of the outfit to the tee. Also, this particular top deems necessary a simple, effortless outfit, with a touch of scrappiness and a ton of attitude ;)

Brandy Melville has a series of statement tops right now with sassy quotes, phrases, and lyrics. And I just love them, not only because the quotes are from some of my favorite songs or movies, but also because they are simple and to the point. The tops themselves are so soft and comfortable, and are definitely the perfect "throw on and go" types of shirts that still guarantee you'll look stylish!

I can't help but feel like a delightful badass in this shirt, and I encourage you all to check out all the ones they have and find the right one for you ;)

We're kicking this week off with a bit of sass and a lot of love!

CFDA Fashion Awards

This week the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) Awards took place at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center in New York City. This event is one of the more poignant fashion nights of the year, and many designers escort supermodels and/or actresses they've dressed in their designs. To be  blunt, I found myself rather frustrated with quite a few designs I saw. I mean, how does someone look in the mirror and not realize that they look a fool!? There are some things we may never understand, lol.

On the bright side, there were some attendees that absolutely nailed it, and here they are!

(All photos courtesy of www.stylebistro.com)
Supermodel Karolina Kurkova proves she has legs for days in this silver, metallic, short suit by Michael Kors.

Adriana Lima wore this gorgeous Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci piece. The outfit would have been just a shorts jumper, but transformed into a dress thanks to the sheer skirt with its intricately embroidered hemline. The sheer skirt diverts the focus to her legs, which, let's be honest, is where our attention should always be when it comes to supermodels ;)

Alessandra Ambrosio looks flawless in this asymmetrical, white Kaufman Franco gown with cutouts and sheer inserts.

Karlie Kloss brought some drama with this plunging, midnight gown by Cushnie et Ochs. Aside from the plunging neckline, I love the shoulder cutouts and the different textures used!

Wearing this gold Marc Jacobs, Nicole Richie looks absolutely statuesque! Although the dress appears more simple in design, the way it fits and falls on Nicole gives away how well made and tailored it actually is.

Lastly, here is Joan Smalls in a white Givenchy. I just love this whole look: the necklace is divine and the dress has both a Grecian and ethereal feel and movement to it. She looks as though she is walking on air!

Have a great weekend darlings!!
