Prep Me

Sweater: Lux, Top: Nameless, Leggings: Silence + Noise, Shoes: Dolcetta by Dolce Vita, Bag: Louis Vuitton, Lipstick: Jordana Cosmetics "Matte Berry" (get it here!)

Well kittens, I'm in a great mood because my Lakers have won their last 3 games!! For a serious fan like me, this is music to my ears, especially since our season has been rocky to say the least! Also, today's my Mom's birthday, so I just wanna say Happy Birthday to the best mom in the world! I love you more than you'll ever know :)

Today's look is what I'm lovingly naming the "preppy badass" look, lol! For the prep we start with this mustard yellow cardigan by Lux, found at Urban Outfitters. The navy arm stripes give it an off-beat prep-school look.

The 'badass' starts with my trusty pleather leggings. I've been experimenting a bit and seeing what different kinds of styles of outfits I can pair these leggings with, and I've been impressed with how versatile they are!

My statement vamp lipstick seals the 'Bad-A' deal on this outfit, lol. This lipstick means business, and in the best possible way. You can  dress up any outfit AND make heads turn with this deep shade. It's a favorite of mine by Jordana Cosmetics, so be sure to pick up your own and pucker up ;)

My Dolcetta booties add a little scruff and toughness, and balance out the touch of glam provided by my Louis Vuitton 'Speedy' bag.

Alright lovelies, enjoy the rest of your week, we're going to be doing the random selection and announcement of the 10 winners of our Giveaway this weekend!! Wheee, get excited because I am!

Until then,

This Is What Makes Us Girls

Dress: Reformed, Coat: Sugarfly, Shoes: Steve Madden, Purse: Louis Vuitton, Hair Accessory: H&M

This is what makes us girls
We all look for heaven and we put our love first
Somethin' that we'd die for, it's our curse
Don't cry about it, don't cry about it
This is what makes us girls
We don't stick together 'cause we put our love first
Don't cry about him, don't cry about him
It's all gonna happen
- Lana Del Rey "This Is What Makes Us Girls"

Happy Monday BBs!! Anyone watch the SAG Awards? More importantly, did anyone see the Lakers beat OKC!? That was splendiforous!

Anywho, today's look is softer and on the girly side. We start with this easy dress by Reformed, found at Urban Outfitters. I like that it's a 'busy' pattern without feeling overwhelming, and the fit is quite flattering for most shapes and sizes.

I love white coats, they always make you look a bit angelic. I like this one because it's not a thick coat, so I can wear it throughout most of the year...in Southern California weather, that is ;)

For accessories: I wore my nude Steve Madden t-strap heels, because like I've said, nude elongates the legs and the soft tone doesn't detract from the rest of the outfit. I also paired my Louis Vuitton bag with it and topped the outfit with a floral hair piece from H&M to further the soft, feminine look.

Overall, the outfit is a touch romantic to me. Modern, dreamy, and hopeful. Sometimes, well always actually, it can be tough being a girl in the world. But it can also be so very lovely :)

Anyways, There's only a couple days left to make sure you're in the drawing for our 10 Winner Giveaway with Jordana Cosmetics!! Make sure you and your friends have liked our Facebook page and/or directly joined the blog!

Favorite Looks: Paris Fashion Week Spring 2013

(Photos courtesy of Mercurynews.com & StyleBistro.com)

This week showcased the Spring/Summer 2013 designers' collections during Paris' Fashion Week. Always an exciting event to follow, and I picked some of the looks that struck me most to showcase here with you all!

We start with this quirky, nude Jean-Paul Gaultier dress. Yes it's odd, but I quite like the structure and personality of it. Plus, I can totally see a stylist removing the tool and just having the mini-dress be worn by a celebrity client to an event or premiere!

Next, I selected 5 looks from the Elie Saab show. She truly knocked it out of the park with this one, I had a hard time narrowing down to simply these looks because, honestly, her entire collection was simply perfection. I have no doubt we're going to be seeing a ton of her pieces all season on the red carpets. The detailing, fit, and design of each piece is utterly breathtaking, and I cannot imagine what an experience it must have been to sit in the show and see the pieces first-hand. Excuse me while I have a fashion-gasm over here.

Lastly, I chose this piece by Lanvin. I enjoy its simplicity and sleekness. There were a lot of pant-suits on the runways by multiple designers during the shows, but I felt drawn to this because it is so effortlessly chic. And the gold belt accessory gives it just the right amount of lift and shine ;)

So there you have it! Let me know what your favorite looks from the runways were this week! And don't forget about our Giveaway, we'll be closing it out soon! Have a beautiful weekend lovelies.

Carmen

Sweater: Forever 21, Shorts: Forever 21, Shoes: Michael Kors, Bag: Tobi Online, Lipgloss: Jordana Cosmetics (found here!)

The boys, the girls, they all like Carmen
She gives them butterflies, bats her cartoon eyes
She laughs like god, her mind's like a diamond
Audio tune lies, she's still shining
Like lightning, ohh, like lightning
- Lana Del Rey "Carmen"

Cropped sweaters make me so happy!! I feel like I'm conforming to winter weather without fully consigning myself to full cold-weather attire. Sometimes you can get away with that here in LA, but it does get cold at night, it's a desert after all ;)

I love this red cropped sweater from Forever 21. It's thick but the peek-a-boo stitch pattern and crop gives it a flirtatious nature. I paired it here with my black faux leather shorts, which are a bit high waisted and thus, don't show too much midriff.

I also love my new crossbody skull bag from Tobi.com, it's got some serious hardware going on! It's a great everyday bag, and I'm always a fan of crossbody bags :) Lastly, I paired it with my Michael Kors suede heels, making it a more dressed up day-to-night outfit. And topped it all off with my trusty Jordana lipgloss. Perfect for Happy Hour!!

I'd Follow You Down

Top: Vintage, Skirt: Forever 21, Shoes: Steve Madden, Purse: Louis Vuitton, Hair Accessory: H&M

"It isn't that hard boy to like you or love you,
I'd follow you down, down, down,
You're unbelievable
If you're going crazy, just grab me, and take me
I'd follow you down, down, down, anywhere, anywhere."
- Lana Del Rey "Million Dollar Man"

We're starting the week off with a bang kittens. This is the last week to make sure you and your friends are eligible for our 10 Winner Giveaway with Jordana Cosmetics, simply by 'liking' the facebook page (here!) and/or joining the blog directly on the site!

Today's look is originally something I was working on putting together for a theatre event, so it's a bit more on the formal side. Obviously an evening piece.

The outfit required some tailoring. I had the bustier as a vintage piece, but had it lined and tapered to fit me. And when I found the long, pleated skirt, I just felt that it needed a slit - so that as I walked it could breathe and flow in billowy manner.

I'm veryyyy into lace and floral designs because they are so delicate and delightfully feminine, so I just envisioned this outfit and the beauty of its paradox: a strange but provocative balance of both shy and bold. I believe one of the beauties of femininity is the ability to project more than once facet of ourselves: both a sweetheart and a seductress.

Anyways, enough with my ramblings. Have a wonderful Monday BBs, and I'll see you mid-week ;)

Best Dressed: Golden Globes

(Photos courtesy of: www.celebrity-gossip.net and www.justjared.com)

It took me nearly a week of deliberating, but I've finally narrowed down my favorite looks from the 2013 Golden Globe Awards! So let's get right to it!

One of my favorite trends on the red carpet was the pale, lace, mermaid gown! We start with Megan Fox in Dolce & Gabbana, I thought she was stunning and lovely - and her post-baby bod is ridiculous! Next, Amy Adams looked like a classic screen siren in her Marchesa gown. And last in this group, Hayden Panetierre in Roberto Cavalli. Honestly, I think this is the best she's ever looked on the red carpet. With her hair down, and her makeup light, she looked ethereal and glowing! Cheers to these ladies for hitting the mark :)

The next couple looks I enjoyed were pops of color on the red carpet. Claire Danes had a serious red carpet moment in her Versace dress. The woman had a baby 1 MONTH AGO, WTF!?!! But, seriously, the cut of this gown was perfection on her body: accenting her cinched waist, elongating her, and even adding a cleavage baring plunge to highlight her "new mom boobs," (yeah, that's my official term for them, lol). I couldn't talk about pop of color without mentioning the goddess that was Jessica Alba on the red carpet. Truly, she looked so flawless and beautiful in her coral Oscar de la Renta dress. Her skin was glowing, her diamond necklace making her look regal. I cannot get over how dazzling she was! And it was refreshing to see a bold choice of color on the carpet, and even better when that choice worked!

Lastly, there were two black ensembles that caught my eye. First, I thought Amy Poehler looked fantastic in this plunging tux by Stella McCartney. Fresh off of her divorce, the SNL alum looked sexy, confident, and gorgeous. Take that Will Arnett ;) And, lastly, Katharine McPhee oozed sex appeal in this risqué Theyskins Theory gown. It was a bold choice, and she rocked it! Most importantly, she wore the dress, she didn't let it overpower her.

So there you have it, my best dressed of the 2013 Globes! Hope you all enjoyed, it was hard to narrow down and try to be objective too, believe it or not, lol. Anyways, I hope you all have a gorgeous weekend! And remember: our Giveaway is still going so be sure to share with your friends so you're all in the drawing!!

Suit & Tie

Blazer: Silence + Noise, Blouse: Frenchi, Shorts: Forever 21, Tie: Topshop, Hosiery: H&M, Shoes: lulus.com, Bag: Chloé, Lipgloss: Jordana Cosmetics

So after five years or so Justin Timberlake dropped a new single this week called "Suit & Tie," and it was....okay? Kinda underwhelming, but whatever, the title was still perfect for today's post, lol! How are you guys? I hope everyone's week is going swimmingly thus far. I want to say welcome to all our new readers! I'm so delighted and humbled that you would come and take the time to read my inane ramblings, but please don't leave, I like the company!! ;)

Anyways, today's look is my answer to the standard "workin' 9-5" get-up! I love to take something a bit classic and add some cheeky surprises to it. In this case, we have the classic white button up with a blazer and tie....except I've made sure the tie was a skinny (I really only like skinny ties, on both men and women). And instead of pants or a skirt, I'm wearing forest green leather shorts, because that's just the kind of girl I am!

I'm loving the faux leather shorts I've been finding at Forever 21. They can be matched with SO many different outfits and occasions! I have them in the green color I'm wearing here as well as in black. They're thin, light, comfortable and fit like a glove. Trust me when I say that you will turn heads in these! And I mean that in a good way ;)

I feel like a few cheeky changes add just the right amount of surprise to the humdrum normalcy of work attire. But it doesn't need to be flashy either, which is why I stuck to earthy and neutral tones. And tights/hosiery are also always great ways to balance out short hemlines, risky/bold choices, etc.

Anyways lovebugs, it's late, and I feel like I'm writing with less fluidity than usual, so I apologize for the starkly written post. I'm still going back and forth on my favorite dresses from the Golden Globe Awards last Sunday, but we'll discuss it in Friday's post when I narrow my best dressed list! See you then :)
