Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can't Lose

Jacket: Aqua, Button Down: Urban Outfitters, T-Shirt: Whole Foods, Jeans: Levis, Shoes: Soda, Sunglasses: Ray Ban, Purse: H&M

Fellow Friday Night Lights fans will appreciate this post's title :) Dang, I miss that show like whoa. Anyways, it is at last Friday my loves, and I don't know about you all, but for me this has been a long and trying week. So knowing we're at its end is certainly something to rejoice over!

This outfit is all about layering. My trusty hooded, leather jacket is the focal piece. A good leather jacket is an absolute staple in everyone's closet: dudes and ladies alike. Personally, I prefer hooded jackets, but to each their own. I looked high and low for over a year for a Doma hooded moto jacket and simply could not find them anywhere. But, I did come across this one after searching long and hard on online! It was a Bloomingdale's sale piece and I managed to snag it for a great deal on Ebay :) Win.

I've layered the piece with this plaid button down from Urban Outfitters, and a plain black tee that I picked up in the clothing section of a Whole Foods, lol. Seriously, the shirt is so soft and comfy, plus knowing it's eco friendly is just an added bonus!

For bottoms, I'm wearing basic Levi's skinny jeans - I think it's imperative you have a couple different cut jeans, because you'll likely wear different ones for separate occasions.

The booties are by Soda, and they're simple, but comfortable and functional while providing enough of a heel that you get a touch of height and lengthening without having to succumb to full heels. The accessory pieces are my Ray Ban sunglasses, and my delightfully tassled H&M crossbody bag.

Well, now that we're at the end of the week, I hope you all have a great weekend, and let's hope next week brings more positivity than this one! I'll keep my fingers and toesies crossed :)

Reflection

Sweater: H&M, Leggings: Urban Outfitters, Boots: Naughty Monkey

'Reflection' doesn't just refer to the Christina Aguilera song from Mulan, kids. It's Wednesday and I hope you're all hanging in there. I pretty much feel like I'm hanging by the tips of my fingers across the cliff face, but I'm hanging in nevertheless.

This sweater from H&M gives great reason to hold on, because it's so cuddly and delightful! The knitted material is soft and gives good warmth without being overbearing. Additionally, the length is ideal for layering with leggings, jeans, skirts, or pretty much any bottom of your choosing. I particularly love the scooped hemline, providing a slight but perfect mullet shape :)

The pleather leggings are ideal for giving the typical casual sweater a more chic look and providing sleek feminine lines to contrast the thickness of the top.

The boots are my obsession, and how I got my hands on them is a story in and of itself. All I'll say is that I've got some serious skills, lol. But seriously, if you're a boot lover like myself, then you should check out Naughty Monkey's line. I promise you won't be disappointed ;)

Enjoy your week everyone, see you Friday...

Sticks & Stones

Sweater: Manito, Shorts: Klique B., Shoes: Rocket Dog

Welcome back BBs! I hope you all had a lovely holiday :) I've been going through some hurdles in my personal life, but I have hope. And I have all of you to help me keep my chin up, and for that I am grateful.

The simplicity of this outfit is, I believe, what sells it because it comes off as effortless; and, it allows the focus to go towards the detailing. As it should. I love this sweater, it has a warmth to it (i don't mean literally, it's fairly thin, lol), and yet the spiked detailing adds a fierceness to it. It's just the right amount of bite.

I'm a sucker for studded detailing, so naturally, I fell hard for this piece. I paired it here with cutoffs, but it also goes great with jeans, or leather leggings for a more evening look. Throw on a pair of boots and you have an easy day-to-night outfit!

Alright all, I hope you have a great Monday, and I'll see you mid-week. As they say, the show must go on.

Nirvana

Top: Brandy Melville, Button Down: Topshop, Shorts: Klique B., Shoes: Converse All Stars, Bra: Victoria's Secret, Sunglasses: RayBan

I wish I was feeling as zen as I look in these photos, but sadly I'm a frazzled mess. The holidays are fast approaching, for which I am completely unprepared, and school is a constant source of fear and anxiety for me as of late. But I hope you guys are having a better week than me lol!!

As many of you are aware of, I love love love Brandy Melville. That store is just everything good ever. And when I saw them carrying a soft crop top with one of my favorite iconic bands, I definitely needed it in my possession instantly! Since the arm falls low, I usually try to wear a cute bra with it since I know it'll peek-a-boo out a bit.

I love layering and pairing it with my plaid button-down from Topshop. It's a great throw on for in-between weather, and I love how 90s grunge I feel when I casually tie it around my waist when I get warm :)

Cutoffs and high-top converse only seemed fitting to complete the look, and of course you can't forget the quintessential Rayban wayfarer sunglasses to top it off!

Alright lovelies, the weekend is here, so I hope it finds you all beginning to relax for Thanksgiving and bounding off to meet your loved ones! I'm exhausted but MUST work on my paper and presentations (yes plural :( ) for school. Le sigh.

See you guys Monday!!

Don't Go Chasin' Waterfalls

Top: Forever 21, Shorts: BDG, Shoes: Rocket Dog, Headband: Forever 21

Um, hi, did anyone else realize that Thanksgiving is just next week!? How the devil did that happen?? Well, kittens, it seems like time is flying, and I'd be more worried about it, but this post makes me smile too much to bother worrying! :)

Can you spot any of the rainbows in some of the photos? I love these shots, there's so much going on, but they just feel as happy and as effervescent as the fountains inset!

This top is so adorable I always feel sweet when I wear it...it's quite deceptive lol! ;) As some of you may remember, I love lace, and white is my favorite color, so this top is pretty much a match made in heaven. The bow headband is from Forever 21 as well, and complements the airiness of the lace top.

My studded, high-waist cutoffs are from Urban Outfitters, and they definitely balance out the tone of the outfit. A little sour for all the sweet ;)

And the Rocket Dog booties complete the look to make it everyday enough that you don't need an occasion to wear this look.

Well, I certainly hope this post puts a little spring in your step! And guess what? Friday is that much closer, yayy!! Have a beautiful day, and remember what TLC said back in the 90s: Don't Go Chasin' Waterfalls....but in case you do, I'll go with you ;)

Kayla In Wonderland

Coat: Sugarfly, Tights: Nordstrom, Shoes: Lulus.com, Headband: Forever 21

Well darlings, I can at least say that I was able to finish writing my short paper today, however that's only because my friend made me do it, lol. I procrastinate like it's my job. But at least that's one assignment down, now I have 2 presentations and a big paper to look forward to, goody!!

Anyhow, let's discuss much more delightful things, like how happy this post makes me! You may not know, but Alice (from Alice in Wonderland, obviously) is my favorite character, and I pretty much try to dress up like her whenever I can...which is usually only Halloween, but seriously, if I could I'd wear that costume every day. Every. Day. But, since I'd rather not be committed, I've instead found ways to use Alice as an inspiration to my outfits!

I'm not even quite sure how the idea came to me, but somehow it fell together, and with the colored tights I suddenly felt a bit "Mad Hatter-y" and then the next conclusion was of course - Alice! I do love colored tights every now and then. They're such a fun burst of color, and a great way to escape the sometimes monotony of winter dress!

Of course my Mary-Jane pumps heightened the idea because of their dainty and sneaky demure nature, and then the headband helped tie it all together.

I've had this coat for a while now, but I must say I still adore it as much as I did when it was a new addition to my closet. I have a thing for white coats. There's just something lovely about them. And I must say, I'm rather thrilled that it's finally sweater and coat time here in Southern California. Frankly, it's November so it's about bloody time ;)

This is the first post of a series we shot downtown and I cannot wait for you to see them all! I do feel like LA is a bit of a Wonderland in its own right: it's kooky, vast, confusing, people are a bit nutty, but there are also some hidden gems :)

So BBs here we are starting another week, let's make it a good one! See you all Wednesday...

Chambray of Secrets

Button Down: Nordstrom B.P., Tank: random, Shorts: Nordstrom B.P., Backpack: Urban Outfitters, Hair Accessory: H&M, Boots: random

Apparently it's Friday, this is news to me because I've lost track of my days. At this point, I'm just trying to work my way through my papers and presentations this month so I can get to mid-December and be done with this bloody semester! I hope you all are faring better than I am, however :)

Since I am so encompassed by school at the moment, it feels appropriate that today's outfit is more everyday/threw-this-on-before-class-centric, lol! The starring piece is my denim, button-down chambray top, which I purchased from Nordstrom. I love its simplicity, and how easily it can be added to such a variety of outfits. It's also great for that time in the fall when the weather is transitioning, and you're not sure if it's going to be a warm or cool night - this preps you for either.

Coincidentally, I also found these pastel floral cut-offs at Nordstrom over the summer. They're super comfy and their soft tones make them amiable to any number of looks. They're also paired with my Texas cowboy boots (the real deal, homie), which always make me feel scrappier than I probably am....

Moving on. I have my sturdy canvas backpack, which makes me feel like I'm off to boot camp - which is pretty much what school can feel like at times (or in my case-all semester). I got this backpack at Urban Outfitters a few years ago, and it's got all sorts of neat bells and whistles to it ;) They still have this backpack, and in other colors as well!

Alright BB's, I'm spent. I need to go bury myself in writing. Wish me luck!! And please, go have some fun for me so I can live vicariously through you all :)

Lots of love,

Let's Go Steady

Dress: Nordstrom BP, Belt: Forever 21, Tights: H&M, Shoes: Lulus.com, Hair Accessory: H&M

Bananasauce it's been a dramatic week to say the least, and it's only Wednesday!! So I figure, we could all use a break from the shenanigans going on. And what says 'delightful distraction' more than polkadots!? My thoughts exactly.

I love this outfit for a date night: it's sweet and flirty, fitted and flared where necessary. I love that the modest neckline suggests 'good girl,' but the hemline still gives it some sass, because let's be real - good girls do have all the fun ;)

However, I have a confession: when I bought the dress it was a bit longer, and I had the tailor adjust the hemline. As much as I wish I did, I don't have long legs, so in-between lengths do me NO favors. I usually need to adjust hemlines so my legs don't look as short as they actually are, lol! Listen, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do ;)

I also felt the dress slightly monotonous on its own, so I knew I needed a belt to balance it out. I popped over to Forever 21 and quickly found this patent bow belt that went perfectly with the dress, for an easy topper. To continue accessorizing, I added the sheer tights for a light evening look. My quickly becoming signature flower hairpiece was also added to add balance to my upper half - as well as to heighten the playfulness of my look.

It's all finished off with my platform, double-strap, velvet Mary-Jane pumps. IlovethemIlovethemIlovethem. I purchased these from lulus.com about a year ago, and while they're more seasonal: fall/winter, I absolutely adore them. I think it's a wonderful duality to have the sexiness of a pump combined with the demureness of a Mary-Jane strap (and double to boot!). The shoes are actually comfortable, and I love that lulus.com always has affordable shoes that are implicitly stylish :)

Anyways, my darlings, now that we're all dressed for our date, I hope you don't find me to forward in asking if you'd go steady with me? I think you're pretty swell, and I'd really like to be your girl...at least when it comes to fashion and such ;)

Alright alright, enough of my tom foolery. I hope you all enjoyed this little siesta, and get through the rest of your Wednesday feeling slightly lighter :)

See you Friday BBs!
